Illegally soccer gambling likely legal during Euro 2004 (UEFA)

During UEFA, in the capital and in southern part of
Burma, Burmese people are widely gambling as legal game after bribed to Military Intelligence and gambling organizers won in the French vs Greece match according to the gambling organizer in Rangoon.


“A lot of people join the gambling in their quarter and township during the UEFA Euro 2004,” said U than Aung , a Tamwe township gambling organizer.


In the township quarter, the gambler set the big whiteboard on the street in which they write how to do gambling and the result of the match.


“During the famous team such as French,
England…there are more than hundred of people join gambling in a gambling department by watching on the big TV show,” U Than Aung added.


“Gamblers start gambling from the
midday till to the end of the match and using more than 5 millions Kyat,” said U Thein Oo the gambler who invested much amount money in the gambling.


“There are many gambling investors, who come from the
Rangoon, went to rural area and join in gambling,” he added.


In Mon state, city and local people widely joins gambling that run by
Rangoon gambling investors and small gambling investors in the area.


“There are billion of Kyats using in gambling in Three Pagoda Pass, Thai Burma border and many Thai peoples join gambling with Burmese people,” U Zaw Htike said.


Mostly ,Thai TV Game investment in
Three Pagoda Pass and gambling men from Rangoon joining it,” he added.


“To set up a gambling room, we have to pay 100 thousands kyat to the MI and some time we also have to pay to the police as a bribe,” U Than Aung said.


“Some authorities charge the gamblers with percentage,” he added. “It is illegally, but people join it as a legally and widely,” said U Than Aung.


According to the gamblers, there are three ways using in gambling: gambling on goal numbers, winner and setup goal number as lottery number.


In
Rangoon, some gambling investors are running their gambling the whole year and they have to bribe to the MI a hundred thousands per month.
