GOING TO MYANMAR?

Shoot the dictatorship!

Enter Burmese Relief Center --Japan's
Behind the Slorc WHITEWASH Photo Contest.

Because of interest and responses from around the world the
contest has been extended until December 1995.

Slorc, the miliary junta which has controlled Burma since 1988,
needs your tourism dollars but fears your traveler's curiosity.
To prepare for your visit, Slorc has been busy whitewashing; not
only Rangoon's decaying landmarks, but more significantly its
crimes against the Burmese people. Burmese Relief Center--Japan believes that
 travelers to Burma
needn't be pawns in
Slorc's power game. Indeed, an informed visitor who can expose
what's behind the whitewash is a friend of Burma's people and a
foe of the junta. That's why we're inviting all travelers to
Burma to open their eyes, and shutters, tot he realities of life
under the dictatorship. Enter Burmese Relief Center--Japan's
"Behind the Slorc Whitewash" photo contest.

+ Photos may be in black and white or color
+ Photos will be judged on technical and artistic merit as well as
content
+ There is no restriction on subject matter, but remember the
Slorc whitewash is intended to hide these facts: Nobel Peace
Laureate Aung San Suu Kyi has been under house arrest on
University Avenue since July 20, 1089; the Burmese military
has swelled to over 300,000 while the country has no external
enemies; Military Intelligence agents are everywhere; Slorc is
the world's number one drug dealer and heroin is widely
available even in Rangoon; Slorc routinely uses slave labor for
so-called public works project; satellite towns hold tens of
thousands of citizens forcibly removed from their old
neighborhoods by the military; tourism dollars buy weapons.
+ Include name, address, phone number, location(s) and date(s)
of photo(s) entered, camera type, film type, aperture and
