SINGAPORE, Jan 19 (Reuter) - Singapore will send three ministers to
Burma next week to seek increased economic ties, Singapore's Ministry of
Trade and Industry (MTI) said on Friday.

It said Yeo Cheow Tong, Mah Bow Tan and Lim Hng Kiang -- respectively
ministers for trade, communications and national development -- would attend
the inaugural Singapore-Myanmar (Burma) Joint Ministerial Working Committee
Meeting in Rangoon on January 23.

New areas for cooperation would be discussed and the meeting would review
the progress of tourism and agrobusiness joint ventures, MTI said.

Singapore is Burma's second largest trading partner, a Singapore Trade
Development Board statement said.

Trade in 1995 amounted to Singapore $903.6 million (US$640 million) in
exports and S$299.3 million (US$212 million) in imports.
