S.H.A.N : GUNMAN MISTAKES SSNA MAN FOR KARN YORD

On January 04 1996, at about 20.00 hours, a man shot into the house where Sai
Yoong, a tax collector of SSNA, was spending a night in the southern market
quarter of Lai Kha. The bullet went straight to where he was sleeping, but was
deflected by a cover.Sai Yoong got up and ran away, escaping into the night.
Most people thought that the gunman was hired by Khun Sa, and he had apparently
taken Sai Yoong for Karn Yord and tried to assassinate him.

Not long after this incident, rumours circulated that Karn Yord had been
assassinated at Pang Long on January 23 1996. Such is how rumours can spread.
