	Washington: The United States Department warned Burma's military 
	rulers yesterday against arresting democracy leader Ms Aung San 
	Suu Kyi amid published reports that they may be preparing to detain 
	her.

	Meanwhile, almost 2000 of more than 20,000 ethnic Kareni forced 
	out of their homes this month in a scorched-earth campaign by 
	Burmese	government troops have fled to Thailand.
