DASSK does not seem to like SLORC

Suu Kyi blasts junta's slogan+
YANGON, June 29 Kyodo - Myanmar's pro-democracy leader Aung San
Suu Kyi on Saturday criticized slogans published by the country's
military junta last month aimed at cracking down on democratic
movements.
In her usual Saturday speech to her followers, Suu Kyi said
the so-called ''requests of the people'' published in junta
propaganda were actually ''requests of only a certain group.''
The junta published in state-run newspapers in late May slogans
calling for the crushing of ''destructionists'' inside and outside
the country, suggesting harsh measures may be taken against Suu Kyi
and her supporters.
The papers printed slogans presented in the style of special
notices severely critical of opponents of the military regime, the
State Law and Order Restoration Council.
The publications cheated people and were a waste of time, said
Suu Kyi, a Nobel laureate and head of the National League for
Democracy (NLD).
They were published immediately after the NLD ended a three-day
meeting at her Yangon residence. The meeting passed resolutions
urging the junta to release all political prisoners, including those
detained in connection with the party meeting, which was meant to
gather delegates elected in the 1990 parliamentary election.
The military government said Thursday that all but three members
of the NLD have been released in the wake of a crackdown on the
pro-democracy group.
The junta arrested 262 NLD members in various parts of the
country last month, including 238 members who won seats in the
national parliament in the general election, ahead of the NLD
convention.
The NLD won 392 seats of the 485 at stake in the May 27, 1990,
general election, the results of which the junta has ignored.
