PRESS CONFERENCES IN BURMA

Regarding the hot issues of political prisoners, human rights and political
development in Burma, a press conference will be held at the NLD Rangoon HQ
at 9:00 am on August 31, 1996. All international news agencies are welcome
to the NLD conference for active questioning and reporting.
Meanwhile, the SLORC will also make a similar press conference on September
2 as an attempt to justify illegal arrests of thousands of human rights and
political activists. Burmese partimers for some foreign news agencies are
usually allowed to these tightly controlled press conferences. Please
contact your nearest SLORC embassy to know if you are permitted to go
there.
