Texaco Inc sells Yetagun natgas to Thailand

BANGKOK, March 14 (Reuter) - A unit of Texaco Inc signed a deal on Thursday
to sell 200 million cubic
feet per day (mmmcfd) of natural gas from Burma's Yetagun field to Thailand
over 30 years, state-run
Petroluem Authority of Thailand (PTT) said. 

Production will come onstream in late 1999, said PTT which is the buyer of
the natural gas. 

Like natural gas purchased from the nearby Yadana field, gas from Yetagun
will be used mainly as a fuel
for a 2,800 megawatt power station in Thailand's western province of
Ratchaburi. 

The Yetagun field is located in Burma's Gulf of Martaban and has estimated
natural gas reserve of 1.1
trillion cubic feet per day. 

Texaco holds 35.42 percent interest in the field, PTT Exploration and
Production Plc PTTE.BK , a unit of
PTT, 14.17 percent, Nippon Oil 5001.T unit Nippon Oil Exploration (Myanmar)
14.17 percent, the
Myanmar Oil and Gas Enterprise 15 percent and Premier Oil PMO.L unit Premier
Petroleum Myanmar Ltd
21.25 percent. The numbers are rounded up.
