Monks Protest in Rangoon (r)

You are dead right!! It has all the hallmarks of SLORC. Remember the race
riots in the late 60s when armed soldiers watched over rioters. It was a
time when there was a severe shortage of rice and people were getting
restless. It is well within SLORC's known character to implement a covert
destabilising campaign, learnt well from the CIA.

The tactic of getting the population to fight amongst themselves or to
scapegoat a minority group is a classic strategy utilised in all political
scenarios, but a speciality of colonial rulers. SLORC has learnt well from
their masters but how many times can they use the same trick?

Like you, I don't think Buddhist monks in robes are given to such actions.
It is more likely they were monk(ey)s of SLORC persuasion.

Long live Freedom and Democracy.
