Even though Burma is going to become an ASEAN member ,its future is still
full of uncertainties.National
reconciliation should have been done long before recent undesirable
political violences occurred. When peaceful solutions can't be found due to
the arrogant ,self-confident generals' hard line policy towards the
opposition party that has been trying to negociate for the sake of peaceful
transfer of power to the elected officials, how can the economy be stabalized
and the law and order restored.Whether the anti-government opposition or an
Islamic group masterminded the bombing seems to play a lesser role than
when the ruling junta will change its attitude towards the Burmese society
that voiced the same opinion in the 1990 elections.

Within the past year and recently civil unrests were reported with
casualities.SLORC seems to believe peace can be maintained by force. What
they used to believe and continue is all double Dutch not only to the
international observers but the opposition. To restore peace by force has
always been the first and last
methodology for SLORC.Even though many opposition sympathizers believe that
the Burmese situation should be resolved peacefully,a few but very careful
observers and opposition sympathizers reckon political violence to be the key.

No matter what the circumstances are ,shouldn't the ruling junta reconsider
its hard line policy and find solutions to the current critical political
situation? If not, what is the ultimate reality for SLORC's generals
clinging to power?
