Clinton to avoid Burma with Hashimoto

WASHINGTON, April 24 (UPI) _ White House press secretary Mike McCurry said
President
Clinton, in his meeting Friday with Japanese Prime Minister Ryutaro
Hashimoto, does not plan to
make ``much of a focus'' on their disagreement over policy toward the
military government in Burma.
The U.S. government announced new economic sanctions this week against the
Burmese
government, but Japan and other Asian nations have declined to follow suit.
