Singapore Telephone's Telepac info



Telepac

Telepac is a data communication service for fast, reliable, flexible and 
cost effective transport of information.
The service offers subscribers the capabilities of a sophisticated 
telecommunications network for linking up
terminals and computers both locally and internationally.

Types of Connections Available

Public Dial-up Access
The subscriber is connected to the Telepac excahnge via the public switched 
telephone network (PSTN). For
connection simply dial the Telepac public ports numbers. Each subscriber is 
given a confidential user name
known as Network User Identity (NUI). It serves as a password for access 
through Telepac.

Private Dial-up Access
Similar to the public dial-up access except that the subscriber is given a 
dedicated port number to dial in. The
number is exclusive for his use.

Dedicated Access
The subscriber is connected to Telepac exchange by a leaseed line. The 
subscriber occupies a dedicated
Telepac port which carries a port identity known as Network User Address 
(NUA) to facilitate receiving calls
from others.

Telex Access
The subscriber establishes a connection to Telepac by calling the telex 
access port using a telex machine.
Similar to the public dial-up access, the subscriber requires a Network User 
Identity (NUI) for access through
Telepac.
