ABN AMRO also owns a subsidiary bank that operates primarily in London,
Amsterdam and NY called Mees Pierson. This bank is very active in commodity
financing.
ABN has agreed to sell Mees Pierson to a Belgian insurance company called
Fortis International, which is conducting its due diligence. The sale is
expected to be completed by the end of 1997.
