(1)		National Convention Convening Commission Meets

		The National Convention Convening Commission held its meeting at the
Commission Office on 31 October. National Convention Convening Work Committee
presented matters pertaining to the National Convention, joined in by other
participants. The NCCC Chairman also looked into their requirements.
 
(2)		Physiotherapy Wing Opens at Jivitadana Hospital

		A reception to mark the commencement of the functions of new Physiotherapy
Wing donated to Jivitadana Hospital under Japanese Grant Assistance for Grass
Root Project (JGAGRP) with the sponsorship of Ambassador of Japan Mr Yoichi
Yamaguchi was held at Jivitadana Sangha Hospital on 31 October.
 
(3)		Short-term Training Course for Professors of HED Opens

		The Short-term training course, conducted by the Higher Education
Department of the Ministry of Education, was opened at Diamond Jubilee Hall
on 31 October. The course will be conducted till 5 November. The
director-general, rectors, directors and deputy directors will give lectures
on matters pertaining to management, teaching, examination and employees,
financial rules and regulations and monetary matters.
 
(4)		Dip ESP Course to Commence at YIT on 3 November

		The Ministry of Science and Technology today announced that the opening
ceremony of the Post-Graduate English Diploma Course (Dip ESP) to be
conducted at the Yangon Institute of Technology will be held at the Assembly
Hall of the YIT at 9 am on 3 November. Those admitted to the Dip ESP Course
to be opened at the Mandalay Institute of Technology must contact the
institute at the earliest, it is learnt.
 
(5)		Second Batch of Cultural Troupe Leaves for Malaysia

		The second batch of Myanmar cultural troupe led by Deputy Minister for
Hotels and Tourism left Yangon by air on 31 October to attend cultural
variety, gems and Myanma traditional food shows to be held in Kuala Lumpur,
Malaysia, from 29 October to 10 November at the invitation of Valiant Towers
Sdn Bhd. In honour of Myanmar's membership in ASEAN, Valiant Towers invited
the troupe to promote tourism industry. The second batch of the troupe
includes 23 members.

received Chief Executive of Premier Oil Plc Mr Charles Jamieson and party at
his office.
 
(C)		Minister for Forestry Lt-Gen Chit Swe received Minister of Energy,
Telegraphs and Posts Datuk Leo Moggie of Malaysia and party at International
Business Centre.
 
(D)		Minister for Commerce Lt-Gen Tun Kyi received Director of Commerce Mr
Charles Pinto and party of Glenco Denreezs sa of France at his office.
 
(E)		Secretary of Myanmar Investment Commission Brig-Gen Maung Maung received
Senior Vice-President of Delta International Mr Sohail Hameed Khan and party
at the commission office.
 
(F)		Minister for Transport Lt-Gen Thein Win received Director Mr Gordon
Pasque of Thorn Security at the special visiting room of Yangon International
Airport. 
 
		The Minister also received General Manager of Yunnan Provincial Machinery
Import and Export Co Mr Wu Wenkuan and party at his office.
 
(G)		Minister for Finance and Revenue Brig-Gen Win Tin received Minister for
Energy, Telegraphs and Posts Datuk Leo Moggie of Malaysia and party at his
office.
 
(H)		Deputy Chief of the Office of Strategic Studies Brig-Gen Kyaw Win
received Professor Dr Russell L Chichon of Iowa University and Dr Patricia
Holroyd of California University of the United States at Dagon Yeiktha of the
Ministry of Defence Services. Present also were geologists Professor Dr Tin
Thein of Taunggyi University, lecturer Dr Aye Ko Aung of Dagon University and
members of the team exploring fossils in Pondaung Region.

Minister of Energy, Telegraphs and Posts Datuk Leo Moggie of Malaysia and
