concludes
YANGON, 20 Nov Seminar on Human Resource Development and Nation Building in
Myanmar sponsored by the Office of Strategic Studies of the Ministry of
Defence concluded at the International Business Centre on Pyay-Road today
with an address by Chief of the Office of Strategic Studies Secretary-1 of
the State Peace - and Development Council Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt.

YANGON, 20 Nov Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council Chief
of the Office of Strategic Studies Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt hosted dinner in honour
of personnel who attended the Seminar on Human Resource Development and
Nation Building in Myanmar sponsored by Office of the Strategic Studies of
the Ministry of Defence at Mya Yeik Nyo Royal Hotel at 7 pm today.
It was attended by Minister for Foreign Affairs U Ohn Gyaw, Minister for
National Planning and Economic Development Brig-Gen Abel, Minister for
Cooperatives U Than Aung, Minister for Education U Pan Aung, Minister for
Health Maj-Gen Ket Sein, Minister for Science and Technology U Thauag,
Minister for Information Maj-Gen Kyi Aung, Minister for Progress of Border
Areas and National Races and Development Affairs Col Thein Nyunt, Chief
Justice U Aung Toe, Attorney-General U Tha Tun, Chairman of Civil Service
Selection and Training Board U Maung Maung Gyi, officiats of Multi-party
Democracy General Election Commission, deputy ministers, Deputy Chief of the
Office of Strategic Studies and heads of the Office of Strategic Studies,
heads of departments, professors, associate professors, historians, local and
foreign journalists, editors Myanmar Perspective magazine, local and foreign
businessmen, personnel of Myanmar Women Entrepreneurs Association, Myanmar
Maternal and Child Welfare Association (Central) and Myanmar Red Cross
Society, participating Myanmar and foreign researchers and guests.

(3) Secretary-3 receives Chinese medical delegation of PLA
YANGON, 20 Nov- Secretary-3 of the State Peace and Development Council
Adjutant-General Lt-Gen Win Myint received medical delegation led by Maj-Gen
Li Chaolin of the People's Liberation Army of the People's Republic of China
at Dagom Yeiktha this afternoon.
Al so present together with 'Secretary-3 Lt-Gen Win Myint were Chief of
Armed Forces Training Maj-Gen Saw Lwin, Director of Medical Services
Brig-Gen Mya Thein Han, Deputy Adjutant-General Col Ye Tun, Deputy Director
of Medical Services Col Aung Naing and Commandant of Defence Services
Institute of Medicine Col Hla Myint.
The delegation was accompanied by Ambassador of People's Republic of China
Mr Liang Dong and Military Attache Senior Col He Yaokui.

delegation
YANGON, 20 Nov Secretary-3 of the State Peace and Development Council
Adjutant-General Lt-Gen Win Myint hosted dinner in honour of medical
delegation led by Maj-Gen Li Chaolin of the People's Liberation Army of the
People's Republic of China at Mya Yeik Nyo Royal Hotel at 7 pm today.
It was also attended by Chief of Armed Forces Training Maj-Gen Saw Lwin,
Director of Medical Services Brig-Gen Mya Thein Han and Chinese Ambassador
Mr Liang Dong and Military Attache Senior Colonel Yaokui.

(5) Ninth 47-Member Meeting of the Fourth State Sangha Maha Nayaka
Committee commences
YANGON, 20 Nov-The Ninth 47-Member Meeting of the Fourth State Sangha Maha
Nayaka Committee commenced at Wizaya Mingala Dhamma Thabin, Kaba Aye, this
morning.
Chairman of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Sayadaw Abhidhaja Maha
Rattha Guru Abhidhaja Maha Saddhammajotika Bhaddanta Sobhita and member
Sayadaws, Minister for Religious Affairs MajGen Sein Htwa, Deputy Minister U
Aung Khin, Director-General U Arnt Maung of Religious Affairs Department,
Director-General U Sann Lwin of Department for Promotion and Propagation of
the Sasana and other officials of the two departments were present.

YANGON, 20 Nov Chairman of Samsung Corporation of Republic of Korea Mr Douk
Kee Ahn and party paid a courtesy call on Minister for Energy U Khin Maung
Thein at his office at 4 pm today.
Present were Deputy Minister for Energy Brig-Gen Thein Aung and
Director-General U Soe Myint of the Energy Planning Department.

(7) Chinese Medical delegation tours Mandalay, PyinOoLwin, Yangon
YANGON, 20 Nov Medical delegation led by Maj-Gen Li Chaolin of the People's
Liberation Army of the People's Republic of China, accompanied by Deputy
Director of Medical Services Col Aung Naing, left here by air for Mandalay
on 19 November morning.
They were welcomed there by Deputy Commander of Central Command Brig-Gen Tin
Soe, Tactical Operations Commander Col Tun Kyi, Commandant and Commanding
officers and officials.

(8) Chairman of Samsung Corporation calls on Minister for Energy
YANGON, 20 Nov Chairman of Samsung Corporation of Republic of Korea Mr Douk
Kee Ahn and party paid a courtesy call on Minister for Energy U Khin Maung
Thein at his office at 4 pm today.
Present were Deputy Minister for Energy Brig-Gen Thein Aung and
Director-General U Soe Myint of the Energy Planning Department.

(9) Myanmar Red Cross Society Central Council meets
YANGON, 20 NOV- The 44th Central Council Meeting of Myanmar Red Cross Society
took place at Red Cross Building this morning.
It was attended by Member of National Health Committee Minister for Health
Maj-Gen Ket Sein, Minister for Education U Pan Aung, Minister for Home
Affairs Col Tin Hlaing, Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement
Brig-Gen Pyi Sone, Deputy Minister for Health Dr Mya Oo, Director of Medical
Services Brig-Gen Mya Thein Han, President of Central Council of MRCS Dr Hla
Bu, executives and members and divisional health officers.
Minister Maj-Gen Ket Sein delivered on opening address.
He expressed his belief that members of MRCS Central Council are realizing
the social objectives laid down by the Government, saying success has been
achieved to some extent in forming the Red Cross reserve force for
maintaining national peace as directed by the Chairman of National Health
Committee.
These Red Cross youths are now under training, he said.
He urged members of MRCS Central Council and Red Cross officials at
different levels to effectively implement the task to meet the target set by
the Government during the training period.
In addition to their normal duties, MRCS officials should render other
services for the benefit of the public, he said.
He called for active participation of Red Cross members in realization of
the State's objectives and implementation of the seven future tasks of MRCS:
The minister also urged Red Cross youths to take part in maintaining
national peace in what ever role they may be.
At the second session of the meeting, the Central Executive Committee
submitted reports including the financial statements.
Afterwards, the Honorary Secretary, the Honorary Treasurer and officials
presented reports on implementation of the tasks laid down at the previous
meeting, extension of the society and investments for welfare of MRCS
personnel.
Chairman Dr Hla Bu took part in discussions on the reports
The second day meeting continues at 9 am tomorrow.

(10) 24 members of armed groups. exchange arms for Peace
YANGON, 20 Nov- Upholding Our Three Main National Causes, the Government is
implementing the national reconsolidation and striving for the emergence of
modern developed and peaceful nation by implementing the 12 political,
economic and social objectives. The armed groups, after realizing the
genuine goodwill of the Government, renounced their destructive acts and
exchanged their arms for peace to come into the bosom of the people.
Altogether 24 members of armed groups exchanged arms for peace from 12 to 31
October, bringing the total of the entire month to 45.
In Southern Command, pvt Saw Min of No 4 company of KNU Headquarters, pvt
Saw Kaw Bi, wife Naw Hla Phaw, sons Saw Toe Toe and Saw Win He and daughter
December Phaw of No 8 battalion of No 3 brigade, Ma Moe Moe of No 7
battalion, I/cpl Soe Naing of DO 4th battalion, bringing along with them one
carbine, six magazines and one walkie-talkie and pvt Maung Ko of No 210
battalion of ABSDF, exchanged arms for peace at the command area.
Pvts Htein Nwe and U Pe Yin of ALP group of Western Command area, pvts Kyaw
Soe, Myint Wai and Ma Nyo Nyo Aung of No 702 battalion of ABSDF and sergeant
Hla Tun of ABSDF Headquarters in Northern Command area and pvt Tun Maung of
No 206 battalion of ABSDF in South-East Command area, exchanged arms for
peace.
In Coastal Region Command, pvts Sha Ni and Ba Htoo of No 1 company and pvt
Nagalay (a) Aung Zaw Lin of No 4 company of 10th battalion of KNU, I/cpl Saw
Pya Pya of DO 7th battalion with one grenade, one M - 22 automatic and .22
rifle, medical assistant Maung Latt, section commander Aung Lwin and pvt
Than Aye of BCP (Myeik District) together with one carbine, two M-16s and 53
rounds of ammunition and pvt Myint Aung of HQ security company of ABSDF with
eight M-16s and 82 rounds, exchanged arms for peace.
Officials gave them warm welcome and necessary assistance to them.
