(1)		Seminar on Interaction Between JCIE and MISIS Held
		The Seminar on the Interaction between the six-member study mission from
Japan Centre for International Exchange (JCIE) and Myanmar Institute of
Strategic and International Studies (MISIS) was held at the Conference room of
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 20 January. The seminar was attended by
responsible personnel from Myanmar Institute of Strategic and International
Studies, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Institute of Economics. During
the course of the seminar, discussions revolve around  ?Prospects of ASEAN 10
and Implications for the Regional Economy and International Relations? were
discussed.

(2)		Seminar ?An Analysis and Assessment of the Current Economic 
		Situation in Myanmar? Continues for Third Day
		The Seminar ?An Analysis and Assessment of the Current Economic Situation in
Myanmar?, co-sponsored by the Office of  Strategic Studies of the Ministry of
Defence and the Tun Foundation Bank, continued for the third day at the
Defence Services Guest House on 20 January.

(3)		Assistant United Nations  S-G Arrives
		Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations Mr Alvaro de Soto arrived
Yangon by air on 20 January.

OFFICE CALLS IN YANGON ON 20 JANUARY
(A)		Minister for Commerce received General Manager Mr. S. Kassi and party of
Toyota  Tsusho Corporation (Yangon Branch)  and Managing Director Mr.
Yoshihiro  Araki and party of Japan External Trade Organization  (JETRO)  at
his office.
(B)		Secretary of Myanmar Investment Commission Brig-Gen Maung Maung received
General Manager Mr Soman Kurian of  NTCU  Fairprice Coop Ltd of Singapore at
the Commission Office.
(C)		Minister for Finance and Revenue received Regional Manager Mr Martin
Edwards and party of Credit Agricole Indosuez Bank of France at his office.
