BATTLE NEWS ( SIXTH BRIGADE AREA )

1)There was a skirmish lasting about 10 minutes, between the SPDC army
column of IB 230 led by major Thet Oo and a KNLA unit, at a place near
Htee-phar-htow stream, which is situated between Ah-pa-lone and Tide-dane
villages, at 7:30 am on October 7,  1997. One SPDC soldier and two
villagers were wounded in the battle.

2)A skirmish took place between a unit led by Lt. Win Maung Maung of the
same SPDC column and a KNLA unit at Ah-ka-line village near Mae-za-li
village at 3 p.m. on 8th October 1997. Two SPDC soldiers were killed, and
one KNLA soldier wounded.

3) On 7th January of 1998, there was a skirmish between the same SPDC army
column and KNLA unit  at a place between Ah-pa-lone and Tide-dane villages.
There was no casualty.

4) On 10.01.98, a skirmish at Mae-ka-thar new village between the SPDC army
column from IB 32 and a KNLA unit. Casualty not yet known.

5) At 9:00 a.m. on 14.01.98, there was a skirmish between a SPDC army
column from IB 230 and a KNLA unit at the paddy field of Ka-lone-zi
village. Casualty not yet known.
 
6) On 15.01.98, a skirmish between a SPDC army column from IB 32 and a KNLA
unit caused two dead and one wounded on SPDC side and one KNLA soldier
wounded.


HUMAN RIGHTS NEWS IN SIXTH BRIGADE AREA

1) On 08.11.97,  a unit led by Lt. Win Maung Maung of the SPDC army column
from IB 230 arrested and beat up 12 villagers, including U  Tin Yi,
chairman of Kwe-tha-fwai village in Mae-za-li village tract.

2) On 15.12.97, the same SPDC army unit arrested  travelers on the
Than-byu-za-yat-Three Pagoda road and forced them to dig the ground and cut
bamboo for the construction of army camp at Mae-za-li village.

3) On 15-01-98, there was a skirmish between IB 230 and KNLA at a place
near Htee-maw-kae village of Wan-Ray township. Later, the SPDC soldiers
after plundering the village, set ablaze 4 houses.
