               Myanmar (Burma) destroyed 41,709
               acres (16,890 hectares) of poppy
fields in eastern Shan state between

               media reported on Wednesday.

in the operation in the state, a haven
for opium growing by rebels and drug
traffickers. The area is part of the
               so-called Golden Triangle where
               Myanmar, Laos and Thailand meet.

               No further details were available.
