(1)		Workshop on Relations between Malaria, Social and Economic Conditions
Opens
		The opening ceremony of workshop on relations between malaria, social and
economic condition, sponsored by Ministry of Health, World Health Organization
and UNDP, was held at Refresher Course for Physician Training School on Dagon
Township on 6 February. Department officials took part in the discussion and
the workshop continues tomorrow.
 
(2)		106 Japanese Tourists Arrive
		Yurani Industrial Tour including 106 Japanese tourists, jointly organized by
Myanma Tourism Services of the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism and Myanma
Yutani Co Ltd, arrived Yangon International Airport on 6 February. They will
tour Yangon, Mandalay and Bagan on 7 , 8 and 9 February and will leave for
Japan on 9 February by air.
 
(3)		Berger Paints to be Produced in Yangon for Local Market, Export
		A contract was signed between the Union of Myanmar Economic Holdings Ltd and
Berger International Limited of Singapore on 6 February to set up Berger
Paints Manufacturing Limited in Yangon. The newly formed jointventure company
will build a factory in Pyinmabin Industrial Zone to produce paints for local
market and export. Berger brand paints have been known in international
markets since 1760.
 
(4)		Seminar on Engineering Approach to Preservation of Environment Begins
		Seminar on Engineering Approach to Preservation of Environment organized by
National Commission for Environmental Affairs (NCEA) of Myanmar in cooperation
with Ebara Hatakeyama Memorial Fund of Japan was held at Sedona Hotel on 6
February.
 
OFFICE CALLS IN YANGON ON 6 FEBRUARY
 
(A)		Minister for Energy received Adviser of Marubeni Corporation Mr Kazuo
Haruna and party at his office. They discussed energy affairs.

(B)		Minister for Mines received Director Mr N Seki and party of Chiyoda
Corporation of Japan at his office.
 
Breitling Orbiter (2) Balloon Landed
		The Breitling Orbiter (2) Balloon landed safely near Othegon village in
Oatpho township which is 75 miles North West of Yangon at 0926 hrs today. The
crew will be giving a press interview in Yangon to local and foreign
journalists before their departure to Geneva, it is learnt.
