"Burmese leader visits Philippines"

Manila:  Burma's senior leader was to arrive on Tuesday for a state
visit to the Philippines, the first by leader of the military-run
country since it joined a regional grouping last year.
Gen. Than Shwe is scheduled to meet Philippine President Fidel Ramos and
sign several accords, including an agreement on a Philippine scholarship
program for 60 Burmese students, officials said.
 Than Shwe is accompanied by a 47-member delegation comprised of
businessmen and senior Burmese officials. They included Lt. Gen. Khin
Nyunt, a top leader of the ruling SPDC and the powerful head of military
intelligence, and foreign minister Ohn Gyaw, the officials said.  (AP)
