Burmese want to open border pass

A Burmese delegation is in Thailand to confirm moves that it wants to open
a border pass at Ban Bongti in Sai Yok district.

Maung Khin, adviser to the State Peace and Development Council on the
Thai-Burmese joint development, said the Bongti border pass is a vital part
of the Thai-Burmese road  project to link Kanchanaburi with Burma's
deep-sea port of Tavoy.

The delegation led by U Maung Khin will hold a meeting with the House
Tourism Committee at Parliament today to confirm Burma's wish to open Ban
Bongti as a permanent  border pass.
