UN joins protests over Burmese refugee attack

The United Nations says it's sending a team of officials to the Karen
refugee camp in Thailand destroyed on Wednesday by Burmese guerrillas to
assess the situation.

The United Nations refugee agency UNHCR condemned the incident and urged the
Thai government to guarantee the security of all refugees along its border
with Burma.

Earlier, the United States also condemned the attack in which two refugees
were killed.

The American State Department spokesman, James Rubin, called on the
government of Burma to end what he called its campaign of terror and
violence against ethnic minorites and to engage in dialogue with them.
