Thai, Myanmar military leaders meet in Yangon

YANGON, March 20 -- A high-ranking Thai delegation headed by former premier Prem
Tinsulanonda called Friday on Myanmar military leaders in Yangon, state-run media reported. 

General Prem, accompanied by Thai Army Commander-in-Chief General Chestha Thanajaro and
senior military officials, met Than Shwe, the head of Myanmar's State Peace and Development
Council (SPDC) military junta, Television Myanmar said. 

They discussed bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries as well as between the
two armed forces, according to the report. 

The talks at the defence ministry were also attended by other senior Myanmar officials including
SPDC Vice Chairman General Maung Aye, junta members Khin Nyunt, Tin Oo and Win Myint as
well as Foreign Minister Ohn Gyaw, the report said. 

The Thai army chief also held separate meetings with his Myanmar counterpart General Aye and
Lieutenant General Khin Nyunt, head of the country's powerful military intelligence unit, it added. 

A senior Thai military official recently indicated that General Chestha would raise a joint fisheries
proposal and territorial disputes during this visit.
