A Good News from India (r)

Dear Friends,

India's senior political leader Mr. George Fernandes, who is also one of 
the foremost international supporters of the pro-democracy movement in 
Burma, has been reelected to the 12th House of Representatives (Lok 
Sabha) from the Nalanda constituency in Bihar.  He has retained this 
prestigious public office for the fifth time, maintaining a tradition of 
winning-big; a margin of more than 100,000 votes.
So far, the Samta party, which he is leading as the Party Chief, has won 
a total of 11 parliamentary seats from Bihar and Utta Pradesh, and is 
leading in one more constituency Bihar.
According to the poll-watch by the Hindustan Time, BJP & its allies 
including the Samta have obtained 240 out of 542 seats and come out as 
the majority in the 1998 elections.  However, whether or not they could 
form a Government at Delhi is still uncertain.
Nevertheless, it is a happy moment for all of us to see our supporters 
keep coming back to the parliament of the world largest democracy in a 
big way.
