More Fabrications as Part of the Smear Campaign
Regarding a statement released on 29 April by the outlawed armed terrorist
group, the All Burma Students Democratic Front on the sentences handed down to
so-called students are as such:-
		(a)	ABSDF and some anti-government organizations which are only interested
in creating disinformation and fabrications have again deliberately and
intentionally without even taking some responsibility to make appropriate
confirmation put out a statement with sensational headlines such as: ? Burmese
Military Sentences Students to Death, Others Sentenced in Connection with
De Soto?s Visit.? They have purposely used the words Students and De Soto
(UN Special Envoy) to attract sympathy and create misunderstanding. They don?t
even know how many of the so-called students were given death sentences.
Amazingly, Mr De Soto?s visit and these terrorist activities have nothing to
do but for the sensationalism and sympathy his name was brought in.
		(b)	The court sentenced the following 6 persons to serve 14 years
imprisonment and death penalty and none of them are actually students. 4 of
them are from the ABSDF armed terrorist group caught inside the country with
explosives for sabotage activities and the other 2 were recruited from within
the country by Ko Thein for the same intention and activities. The 6 of them
are :-
			(1)	Ko Thein, (44)years, Commanding Officer of ABSDF
				No. (207) armed group.
			(2)	Naing Aung, (31)years, ABSDF No. (207) armed group.
			(3) Thant Zaw Swe, (31)years, ABSDF No. (207) armed group.
			(4)	Myint Han, (44)years, ABSDF No. (207) armed group.
			(5)	Khin Hlaing,(51)years, recruited by Ko Thein.
			(6)	Let Yar Htun, (29)years, recruited by Ko Thein.
		(c)	There were also fabrications stating that legal representation for the
above 6 persons were denied where in fact advocate U Saw Hla Tun acted as one.
		(d)	The other 33 persons were also given the right for legal
representation if they do wish so. They were sentenced according to the Crime
they committed ranging from 7 to 14 years imprisonment. In their cases they
were involved in collaborating with outlawed armed terrorist group to disrupt
peace and stability and also for the activities to cause instigation and
agitation in the country.
		(e)	ABSDF also stated that according to sources the SPDC
detained more than 100 politicians, students and political activists in
January this year. Again, they failed to name the source of fabrication and
they are still very keen in categorizing and stereotyping the activists of
armed terrorist groups as students even when they are over 50 years old.
		(f)	More such kinds of fabrications and allegations are expected from
dissidents, armed outlawed organizations and anti-government quarters since a
decision just to wage a smear campaign against the government has been taken.
This movement has been synchronized and coordinated to bring more
international pressure on Myanmar and to exploit the situation in the stoppage
of foreign direct investment pouring into Myanmar.
