Two borders pass shut temporarily

Mae Hong Son- Two borders passes in Mae Sariang and Khun Yuam districts
have been temporarily closed since the middle of this month under the order
of Burmese authorities in Kayah state.
A Thai border official said the governor of Loikaw province in Kayah state
had ordered all Burmese military units based in border areas opposite Mae
Hong Son to forbid any Thai or Burmese people from travelling through Ban
SaoHin Pass in Tambon Mae Khong of Mae Sariang, and through Huay Ton Noon
Pass in Tambon Mae Ngao of Khun Yuam as of May 14 for unknown reasons.
According to the source, more than 500 Burmese had escaped to Thailand via
Ban Pha Khae Pass in Khun Yuam since then.
