The Tibetan Freedom Concert and Nat
The Tibetan Freedom Concert and National Day of Action for Tibet
Washington, DC
June 13, 14 and 15
This year, the Tibetan Freedom Concert and
National Day of Action for Tibet
come just two weeks before President Clinton
visits China. We have an historic
opportunity to focus our energies and raise our
voices in support of Tibet.
Sponsored by the International Campaign for
Tibet, the Milarepa Fund, and
Students for a Free Tibet , with a host of other
Tibet Groups are supporting the
event.
Within the last three years, the Milarepa Fund's
Tibetan Freedom Concerts have inspired and
entertained over 150,000 people. The concert's
unique
incorporation of a Monastery Tent and Action
Tents,
and roving activist volunteers distinguish it as
a place
to learn about Tibet, engage in action, hear
great
music, and have lots of fun in the process.
This year's concert, held in
Washington, DC, will culminate in
the National Day of Action for
Tibet,
featuring the nation's largest rally
for Tibet ever and an afternoon of
advocacy where individuals will meet
with their members of
Congress.
The Rally will take place on the
West steps of the US Capitol
Building on Monday, June 15th. A
series of speakers,
including social justice activists,
former prisoners of
conscience, members of Congress, and
surprise musical
guests from the Freedom Concert,
will address and perform
for the crowd.
Scores of people are coming to Washington from
across the country for this
rally and advocacy day. If you are thinking of
coming to Washington, or helping
folks who would like to, you can find out more
about how to pledge your support
for the National Day of Action for Tibet.
If you can't make it to Washington, DC for the
Concert and National Day of
Action, you can still participate on June 15th.
See & hear the Rally broadcast
live on the Internet on June 15th with coverage
of the events, interviews, and
commentary on the National Day of Action for
Tibet.
Come back to this site on June 15th and send a
message to President Clinton appealing to him to
raise
the issue of Tibet at his summit with President
Jiang
Zemin. This is the message that over 100,000
people
will relay to the President on June 13, 14, and
15. You
can help spread that message by being one of
thousands of Americans across the country who
fax
and e-mail the White House and your member of
Congress on this momentous
day.
