Aung Gyi and Maung Maung, Paper Tig

Paper Tigers

One must distinguish how political realism and political phantasm prospects
whether the former military leader Gen. Aung Kyi and Gen. Maung Maung can play
an important role in Burma political changes. In the political realism
perception, the former generals are just paper tigers and just to be used for
the SPDC stands. The political phantasm, however, needlessly entertains them
as live tigers walking into a town so that people grow either worry or engorge
in gravid.

In fact, the two old men era and power were over long times ago. What they all
can do in U.S. is to polish their services in the army just for pleasure and
refreshment.

Because the SPDC cannot even talk with the NLD and other democratic forces,
the functions among hard-liners in the arm forced leaders arise disagreements
how to handle Daw Aung San Suu Kyi. Gen. Maung Aye's group wants to put her
under house arrest. On the other hands, Gen. Khin Nyunt's group wants to
divide Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and NLD's executives. As a result, thousands of
democracy advocates have been thrown into the harsh prisons.

The SPDC clearly aware what's going on in Indonesia, and Burma will be next
one. But the stupidity of the military leaders cannot premeditate future
bloody disaster. So that "let it be whatever it happens to be" is the SPDC's
forefront policy.

We, political realism, exam "can-do and want-to-do" by those two old guys
presently visiting in U.S.. One thing certain is that Gen. Aung Kyi is a
criminal who ordered to kill students and bombed the Student Union building in
the Rangoon University when he was serving as a commander-in-chief in the
Burmese armed force. More over, he has sit and insulted the NLD and Daw Aung
San Suu Kyi for many years. As a result, he owns many businesses.

To tell the truth, the most popular letters in 1988-kown as Aung Kyi's
letters, were written by some students. But the students simply used Aung
Kyi's name to raise the political reform issues.

In August 1988, one moth before the SLORC took over power, 24 students leaders
met Aung Gyi in his resident in Rangoon and requested to cooperate with Daw
Aung San Suu Kyi and U Nu to from an interim government. But he refused and
replied to the students that he would be the next president of Burma after Ne
Win. He said he was second Ne Win in terms of powerful man in the army so
students should wait. In the end, the SLORC seized the power and ruled Burma
for ten years. But Aung Kyi has never become the Burma's next prescient,
rather he compromised with the SLORC and SPDC.

In short, all at this time must not fantasize the paper tigers, but all should
express the truth.
