(1)		Tipitaka Treatises in Pali and Myanmar Successfully Stored on CD-ROM for
Worldwide Propagation
		A contract on Tipitaka (Myanmar) CD-ROM was signed between the Department
for Promotion and Propagation of Sasana and the Cooperative Stores Syndicate
(CSS) at Mya Yeik Nyo Royal Hotel on 5 July. The Sixth Buddhist Synod was held
at the Maha Pasana Cave, Kaba Aye, in 2498 Sasana Era( 1316 ME, 1954 AD ) and
the treatises were printed and distributed, 40 books of Tipitaka Treatises
(Pali) and 29 books of Tipitaka Treatises (Myanmar) have been preserved.
Today, these treatises are being stored on CD-ROM, and all treatises in Pali
and Myanmar can now be read on two CD-ROMs.  These treatises have been stored
on the CD-ROM after the 15 Sayadaws assigned by the State Sangha Maha Nayaka
Committee had checked thoroughly several times. 20,000 CD-ROMs were to be
produced and the cost of one CD-ROM would be K 1,375 and the entire collection
of Tipitaka treatises would cost only K 2,750. The CD-ROMs will be sent to the
place desired by the donor and well-wishers may contact the Ministry of
Religious Affairs to make donations.

(2)		Secretary-1 Receives Nationalities Leaders of Northern Shan State Special
Region5
		Chairman of Work Committee for Implementation of Progress of Border Areas
and National Races Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-
Gen Khin Nyunt received nationalities leaders of Northern Shan State Special
Region 5 U Mahtu Naw and U Tu Nan at Tatmadaw Guest House in Yangon on 5 July.
They discussed regional development, generation of hydroelectric power,
eradication of narcotic drugs and cultivation of poppy substitute crops.

(3)		Ultramodern Mingala Market, Yuzana Plaza Opened in Mingala 			Taungnyunt
Township
		The opening ceremonies of newly-built modern Mingala Market building  at the
corner of Setyon and Banyadala Streets and Yuzana Plaza on Banyadala Street in
Yangon was held on 5 July.  The buildings were jointly developed by Yangon
City Development Committee and Yuzana Construction Group.  The construction of
Mingala Market started in April last year.  The project was targeted to
complete within 18 months but it has been completed in June this year, three
months ahead of the targeted date.  The building, 260 feet in length and 228
feet in width, is located on a plot of over two acres.  It has a car park on
the basement textile stalls on the ground and first floors, grocery and
cosmetics shops on the second and third floors, pharmaceutical stalls on the
fourth floor and restaurants on the fifth floor.  The car park can accommodate
300 cars, and the stalls are 4,035 in total.  It is a RC type building
equipped with modern facilities--two elevators, each capable of taking 15
persons, two service elevators, each capable of taking 24 persons, eight
escalators, a 500 KVA transformer and exhaust fans. The construction of Yuzana
Palaza started in May last year. Only finishing touches remain to complete.
Although it was originally scheduled to complete the project within two years,
the ground floor of the plaza was opened one year ahead. The six-storey plaza,
600 feet in length and 250 feet in width, is located on four-acre on Banyadala
Street in Mingala Taungnyunt Township. Forty percent of the plaza is for
salesrooms, 30 for halls and cinemas and the remaining 30 percent for car
park. To meet the set international standards, 30 percent of the space of the
building is for use and 70 percent for open space. It has 15 lifts, four
service lifts, two capsule lifts and 16 escalators. All floors except the
ground floor are equipped with airconditioners. The ground floor of the plaza
is designated for retail and wholesale grocery shops, the first floor for
jewellery and electronics shops, the second and third floors for garment and
pharmaceutical shops and food stalls, the fourth floor for amusement room for
children, car showroom and furniture salesroom and the fifth floor for four
500-seat cinemas and four halls, each having a capacity of 4,000 persons.

(4)		World Missionary Sayadaw Leaves for India
		Kaba Buddha Vipassana  Beikmankyaung Sayadaw World Missionary Agga Maha
Saddhamma Jotikadhaja Bhaddanta Pannadipa left Yangon by air on 5 July for
India to discuss practical meditation at the conference of Buddhists and
Christians to be held form 8 to 11 July in Bangalore.
