(1)		National Convention Convening Commission holds meeting
		National Convention Convening Commission held its coordination meeting at
the hall of NCCC on 31 July.  National Convention  Convening Work Committee
and National Convention Convening Management Committee reported the meeting on
the matters related to the National Convention.  Members of NCCC gave
supplementary reports to the meeting.


(2)		Agreement Signed with  Indonesian Company for Development of Coal
Resources in Taninthayi Division

		Department of Geological Survey and Mineral Exploration of Ministry of Mines
and PT Austindo Nusantara Energi of Indonesia today signed Agreement on
Mineral Prospecting.  Exploration and Feasibility Study for Development of
coal resources in Taninthayi Division.

(3)		Shanghai Diesel Engine Co?s Presentation of Products

		A demonstration of the products by Shanghai Diesel Engine Co Ltd of the
People?s Republic of China was held at the Traders Hotel on 31 July.

(4)		Thai Medical Team Performs 162 Operations, Treats 1,410 Cases

		To mark the golden jubilee of the establishment of Myanmar-Thailand
diplomatic relations, a 14-member medical team which treats the hard of
hearing led by ear and nose specialist Professor Dr Soonthorn Antarasena of
Rajivithi Hospital of Thailand arrived Yangon on 19 July.  The team, together
with Myanmar specialists, performed 89 surgical operations and treated 701
cases of the hard of hearing in Pyay and 73 surgical operations and 709 cases
in Mawlamyine.

OFFICE CALLS IN YANGON ON 31 JULY

(A)		Chairman of Myanmar Investment Commission received President Director Mr
Mansyur Tompubolon and party of Mykoin Kartika Truba Engineering Co Ltd of
Indonesia at his office.  They discussed investment opportunities in
production of electric power.

(B)		Secretary-2 of the State Peace and Development Council, Patron of Myanmar
Industrial Development Committee Lt-Gen Tin Oo received General Managers Mr Xu
Wei Da and Mr Hong Ling Bai and party of Shanghai Diesel Engine Co Ltd of the
People?s Republic of China at Mayor?s Parlour of Yangon City Development
Committee.	The Secretary-2 also  received delegation of the Fisheries
Department of the Ministry of Agriculture led by Mr Zhang Tian Zhen of the
People?s Republic of China at Mayor?s Parlour of Yangon City Development
Committee.

(C)		Minister for Mines received Chairman Mr George Santosa Taia and party of
PT Austindo Nusantara Energi of Indonesia at his office.

(D)		Minister for Health received Chairman Mr. Xiao Yu Hang (Retd Brig-Gen) of
CVC International Company of the People?s Liberation Army (PLA), People?s
Republic of China, at his office.  They discussed mutual cooperation in the
establishment of indigenous medicine factories.

(F)		Minister for Hotels and Tourism received Chairman Ms Emma M Altura and
party of Travel Quest Tours & Cruise of the Philippines at his office.
