Burma's military to withdraw guards

Burma's military government says it's prepared to withdraw security guards
from the Rangoon residence of the pro-democracy leader, Aung San Suu Kyi,
after she asked them to leave.

Discussions were now underway.

Aung San Suu Kyi's party, the National League for Democracy, has condemned
the guards presence, describing it as an unlawful restriction.

In a separate development the NLD has rejected an offer to meet senior
members of the government on Saturday the tenth anniversary of the popular
uprising against military rule.

The opposition said it could not accept the invitation because it excluded
Aung San Suu Kyi.
