telephone protest

Please take the opportunity to protest the arrests and continued
detention of U.S. and other international tourists in Burma.

On August 8, 18 visitors were arrested for handing out greeting cards in
Rangoon, Burma.

US citizens and residents, please
1) Telephone the Embassy of "Myanmar" at (USA) 202-332-9044.
Folks elsewhere can call the nearest embassy.
2) Telephone the Jefferson Waterman International (lobbyists for the
junta). 202-216-2200. Ask for Ann Wrobleski.

a) Ask them for the current status of the US tourists under arrest. And
ask them why they were arrested for handing out greeting cards.

b) Express outrage and disbelief that tourists can be arrested for free
speech in Burma.

c) Demand their release and reiterate a commitment to boycott Burma
until democratic rule emerges.

d) encourage them to resign their work and stop working for the military
dictatorship.

You can do something to help! Thanks.

Feel free to cross post and forward this message.
With justice and peace,
