The Statement of NLD (LA) expressing its attitude regarding
The formation of "Representative committee for
The members of Parliament"

1. The formation of the Representative Committee for the Members of
parliament, on September 16,1998, was acted in accordance with the law,
which was entrusted by 250 MPs, among 459 MPs which had been elected,
excluding 26 deceased MPs, applausibly elected by the people of Burma in
the 1990, multi-party democratic general election.

2. This Representative Committee for Members of Parliament, therefore, is a
legal representative body which is in conformity with the basic principle
of democracy" the original owner of the State sovereignty is the masses of
people", as prescribed for the election of members of Parliament for the
1990, multi-party general election.

3. The State authorities had also accepted the authenticity for the
formation of this committee, through their Statements officially issued by
mentioning that people in this committee are the authentic members of
parliament. At the same time no controversial issue could erupt regarding
it is matter in the international community.

4. As such, NLD-LA fully support the formation of this Committee as a legal
body to represent the member of Parliament elected by the people in the
1990, multi-party general election and shall enthusiastically co-operate
with this Committee and at the same time, put forward this appeal to the
committee for the realization of the following demands;

(1) to abolish all the work that has been done lawlessly during the 10
years period, by the military dictatorship;

(3) to continue to implement the work necessarily to be done by the
parliament in accordance with the rule and regulation enforced for the
general election.
