Profiting from Free Burma
Dear real freedom fighters,
Over thousands of people died in Burma since 1988. The Civil
Society and Htun Aung Kyaw do not respect the people who died for
freedom and democracy. Htun Aung Kyaw and his organization, the Civil
Society, are just making money for themselves. He writes fake
recommendation letters for political asylum when people pay him money.
He makes up stories for people saying they were involved in the
pro-democracy movement. He makes a lot of money writing these letters.
Htun Aung Kyaw has been always been corrupt. When he was in the
ABSDF, he used the money that was meant for the organization and the
students for himself. He spent the money on women and personal things.
Many students have died of hunger, been imprisoned, and killed because
of his selfishness and hedonism.
Now I heard that in the United States, he is doing many terrible
things in the Burmese student movement. I want the international
community to know that the Burmese pro-democracy movement, including
Burmese students, do not regard him as a leader. The ABSDF impeached
him from his office. After that, he tried to destroy the ABSDF by
spreading rumors and creating disunity. We cannot let Htun Aung Kyaw
continue to represent the free Burma movement, and we cannot let him
become a politician after free Burma. We must fight against the Htun
Aung Kyaw and his pretense of an organization, the Civil Society. This
Civil Society is simply a vehicle for him and his friends to make money
and popularize themselves. Htun Aung Kyaw is an unethical and immoral
person. He has never cared about the Burmese students or free Burma.
I ask everyone to write letters to the Immigration and
Naturalization Service to tell the INS to refuse any recommendation
letters written by Htun Aung Kyaw. You should also strongly request
that any applications for political asylum, accompanied by Htun Aung
Kyaw's letter, be investigated thoroughly and carefully before political
asylum status is considered. Here is the address for the Immigration
and Naturalization Service:
U.S. Department of Justice
Immigration & Naturalization Service
Vermont Service Center
75 Lower Welden Street
St. Albans, VT 05479-0001
Please stop corruption and selling out the student movement.
Regards,
Than Win (Htoo Gyi)
