Burmese opposition members released 

The authorities in Burma say they have released seven members of the
opposition National League for Democracy. 

They were among the hundreds of opposition members detained since May as
part of a wide-ranging operation against the NLD. 

The arrests followed attempts by the opposition to convene the parliament
elected in 1990 which has never met. 

A statement by the military government said the remaining opposition
members in detention were being well cared for. 

It said friendly exchanges of views were being held between the authorities
and the detainees.
