MLOB's Statement

                     MUSLIM LIBERATION ORGANIZATION OF BURMA

Statement on the formation of 10 member-committee

We fully support the 10 member-committee empowered by the majority of the
people's representatives, elected in the 1990 general election held by the
ruling Slorc/SPDC military junta, to convene the people's parliament and
carry out its duties for the betterment of the state and its peoples, in a
critical time when Burma is being cruelly ruled by the military dictatorship.

It is noted that the National League for Democracy (NLD) has to form the
committee to convene people's parliament as the ruling junta has refused to
honour its promise of convening the parliament and handing over power to
the NLD which won a landslide victory in the general election. The junta
has even refused to have a dialogue with the opposition to peacefully solve
Burma's political problems. We believe that the formation of the
committee is legi- timate as well as a correct undertaking when it is in
accordance with election laws promulgated by the Slorc itself and on
actualization of the will of the peoples.

Burma, a police state, by now has no prescribed laws and is being ruled by
a group of militarists frequently issuing harsh orders whenever they deem
necessary. The peoples of Burma will be free from the various problems they
are facing today and be able to enjoy all human rights and to establish a
peaceful life in a new democratic society only when the people's
representatives can carry out their proper parliamentary duties.

We appeal to the entire Burmese peoples and international justice-loving
communities to increase their support to the NLD, which is in the forefront ,
exerting its efforts to topple the military dictatorship of Burma.

Central Committee,
Muslim Liberation Organization of Burma.
