Suzuki to build motor-cycle factory in Burma
The Suzuki company of Japan is to build a factory in Burma making cars and
motorcycles.
The company says the ten-million-dollar joint venture with a Burmese
state-run enterprise Myanmar Automobile and Diesel Engine Industries aims
to begin production in the first half of next year.
When the factory is fully operational, annual output will total
twenty-five-thousand motorcycles and three-thousand small cars.
The deal setting up the joint venture was signed in Rangoon today by the
president of the Japanese company, Osamu Suzuki, and a deputy premier in
the Burmese military government vice-Admiral Maung Maung Khin.
