Burma Forum participates in Human R

The Burma Forum, Los Angeles was one of thirty two local human rights,
environmental and social justice organizations from around Los Angeles who
organized a benefit concert Saturday in L.A.'s Griffith Park. The
festival, called the SOL Festival, included more than 10 local bands
playing a variety of different music and we heard from wide array of
speakers including Dolores Huerta, co-founder of the United Farm Workers.
Each of the participating organziations had tables set up at the festival to
educate about their issues and the 32 organizations will split the money
raised from the festival evenly. More than 1000 people attended and
payed between $10-$15 for their tickets.

The Burma Forum worked specifically to bring attention to UNOCAL's role in
supporting the military regime in Burma and at a pre-festival press
conference, one of the main issues discussed was a coalition effort underway
in California to revoke UNOCAL's corporate charter. The festival was
a great opportunity to build relationships with other local organizations,
to raise awareness of our issue and to do some fundraising at the same time.
