(1)		Masses of Kayin State Oppose NLD Group for Jeopardizing Peace, Stability
and  Progress

		Over 22,000 people from various strata of life from Kayin State expressed
their genuine desire to oppose the activities of the National League for
Democracy which is detrimental to National Security and National Interest at a
mass meeting which was held at Aung Than Lwin Stadium of Kayin State in Hpa-an
Township on 22 October. The members of Kayin State Maternal and Child Welfare
Association, Kayin State Working Committee for Women's Affairs, Kayin State
Nurses Association and Nurses Training School, members of Union Solidarity and
Development Association of Kayin State and District, Kayin National Literature
and Culture Association, Mon and Pa-O Literature and Culture Association,
Writers and Journalists Association, Artists and Artisan Asiayon, Phado Aung
San and members, War Veterans Organization, representative of Kayin State
Merchants Association, members of Red Cross Society and Auxiliary Fire Brigade
and people of Hpa-an, Kawkareik, Hlinebwe, Myawady and Papun (Kamamaung)
Townships were present. At the meeting speakers tabled and seconded two
motions calling for safeguarding and maintaining economic development and
better conditions of food, clothing and shelter needs of the people and
maintaining and safeguarding stability of the state which has already been
achieved.

(2)		Mid-year Myanma Gems Emporium Gets US$ 4.2 m

		Mid-year Myanma Gems Emporium continued for the final day at Myanma Gems
Emporium Hall on Kaba Aye Pagoda Road on 22 October. A total of 54 pearl lots
valued at US $ 449,791 were sold under the tender system and competitive
bidding system on the final day. Gems, jade and pearl lots, jewellery, pearls
and jade figurines worth US $ 4,285,696 were sold under tender system and
competitive bidding system at the mid-year Gems Emporium from 19 to 22
October.

(3)		Secretary-1 Receives Minister of Education of Brunei Darussalam

		President of Southeast Asian Ministers of  Education Council (SEAMEC) of the
Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) Minister of
Education of Brunei Darussalam Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Wijaya Dato Haji Abdul
Aziz Umar paid a courtesy call on Secretary-1 of the State Peace and
Development Council Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt at Dagon Yeiktha of the Ministry of
Defence on 22 October.
