H.R.H. PRINCESS KALYANI VISITS SHAN MONASTERY

Her Royal Highness Princess Kalyani, His Majesty King Bhumibol?s elder
sister, paid a brief visit to Rangoon and make donations at the Shan temple
there on 26 October . 

The grounds of the temple, known as Gaolak (the Ninth Milestone), was said
to have been dedicated by Queen Victoria. 

The donation, K. 10 million, was for education in the religious teachings.
She also made donations for other eight temples around the world. 

According to sources in Rangoon, the princess went straight to the temple
at her arrival and leave for Bangkok as soon as the rituals were over.
