(1)		General Maung Aye Receives Bangladesh Foreign Minister
		Vice-Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council Deputy Commander-
in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) General Maung Aye
received Minister for Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of Bangladesh
Mr Abdus Samad Azad and party at Zeyathiri Beikman on Konmyintha on 12
November.
(2)		Myanmar and Bangladesh Foreign Ministers Hold Discussions
		Myanmar delegation led by Minister for Foreign Affairs and the visiting
Bangladesh delegation led by Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr Abdus Samad Azad
met and exchanged  views on matters of mutual interest at the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs on 12 November.  Afterwards, a ceremony to mark the signing
of the Treaty between the Government of the Union of Myanmar and the
Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh on the Demarcation of the
Land Section of the Boundary  North of the Naaf River was held  in the
conference hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. On behalf of the
Government of the Union of Myanmar and the Government of People's Republic of
Bangladesh, the two Ministers for Foreign Affairs signed the treaty. Myanmar-
Bangladesh boundary comprises the Naaf River boundary and the land section of
the boundary north of the Naaf River. The Naaf River boundary has been
demarcated under an agreement signed in 1966.  In 1979, the Agreement on the
Demarcation of the Land Section of the Boundary North of the Naaf River was
signed.  Subsequently, the tasks on joint surveying and demarcating as well as
erecting of boundary pillars were accomplished in 1984.  The boundary maps
were signed between the two countries in 1981 and 1985.
(3)		Myanmar, Bangladesh Entrepreneurs Seek Ways to Promote Business
Cooperation
		Myanmar entrepreneurs greeted  Minister for Foreign Affairs of the People's
Republic of Bangladesh 
Mr Abdus Samad Azad and Bangladeshi entrepreneurs at a reception and meeting
held at Traders Hotel on 12 November. Entrepreneurs of the two nations sought
ways and means to promote bilateral economic cooperation.
(4)		Permits for Gem, Jade Mining to be Issued
		The Gems Supervisory central Committee of the Ministry of Mines plans to
issue permits to national entrepreneurs, companies and associations in
accordance with the Sections 12 and 13 of Myanma Gems Law for the mining
blocks permits of which are due to expire between January and April  1999 and
for vacant blocks. Permits will be issued to the highest bidders. Present
companies and associations engaged in mining of jade and gems and other
companies and associations may tender their proposals stating the highest bid.
Interested companies and associations are to get themselves registered and to
obtain the prescribed forms by contacting Myanma Gems Enterprise beginning 16
November 1998. The proposals are to be submitted before 15 December 1998.
(5)		Japanese Gifts for MBF
		Executive of Japanese Boxing Federation Mr Iwamoto Iroshi presented sports
equipment to Myanmar Boxing Federation on 12 November. Mr Shui Chisato and Mr
Kansuki Koyoki also presented cash to the Ministry of Sports.
(6)		Deputy Minister Meets Commissioner of Korea Industrial Property Office
(KIPO)
Deputy Minister for National Planning and Economic Development met
Commissioner Dr Soo Dong Kim and party of Korea Industrial Property Office
(KIPO) of Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy of the Republic of Korea,
who called at his office on 12 November. They discussed progress of Myanma
economy, arrangements to guard against the effects of Asia monetary crisis,
economic development of ROK being undertaken by KIPO and technical cooperation
between Myanmar and ROK. 
(7)		Minister Receives Vice-President of Total
		Minister for Finance and Revenue met Vice-President Mr D Giorno and party of
Total Company of France who called at his office  on 12 November. They
discussed bilateral cooperation matters.
