Samut Prakan - Three Burmese men have been arrested for allegedly supplying
false identity cards to fellow Burmese workers seeking jobs in Thailand.
The three suspects, identified only as Su, 19, Yiew, 26 and Nok, 21, were
caught on Monday evening outside Imperial Department Store, Samrong Tai,
Samut Prakan.
They were caught with 18 illegal Burmese workers who used the cards
supplied by the gang to apply for jobs in Samut Prakan factories.
The suspects were taken to their rented room at Asia Sakon Apartment in
Tambon Samrong Nua where police found a number of fake cards and equipment
used for making them.
Gang members allegedly confessed they had bought the ID cards from Karen
accomplice for 1,500-2,000 baht each and had falsified them before selling
the cards to immigrant workers. Each card could fetch up to 2,500 baht.
