No Human Rights in Myanmar ?

The words democracy and human rights should not be abused or misused since
they mean something to somebody using these terms and unfortunately everyone
assumes his or her version is to be accepted by others. Therefore, in laying
the foundation of a democratic system we must act realistically and
responsibly so that the culture and national security requirements are not
sidetracked and overshadowed by idealistic notions. History compels us to be
more realistic. A solid economic base, constitution suited to the culture and
requirement of the country, stable societies and assured national security
are fundamental.

The people of Myanmar together with the government are very much
preoccupied with working hard in meeting the challenges of the regional
economic crisis and other difficulties a nation unavoidably has to face during
her transformation from a Socialist one-party system to a stable multi-party
democracy.

The country hopes the NLD (National League for Democracy party) will
contribute in a positive and meaningful way that would benefit all the people
of Myanmar instead of revolving around idealistic notions and sending out
symbolic gestures merely to attract attention.
