Re Nobel Foundation Arms Investment

Subject: Re Nobel Foundation Arms Investments/TOTAL

Does Nobel Foundation invest in Total? In Unocal?

Will someone please contact their London, NY investment officers, Rod
Hearn (UK), Alfred Harrison (US) to verify this? If they are investing
in these companies behind the Yadana pipeline project, we are entitled
to know.

The three principal french company investors in Burma today
are in the Energy sector: GEC Alsthom International, Total Mynamar
Exploration & Production, Schlumberger Myanmar Overseas

Further, for your info: The principle french banks with offices in Burma
are

Credit Lyonnais (French state bank)
Banque Francaise du Commerce Exterieur (State bank)
Banque National de Paris
Banque INDOSUEZ

1997 Govt estimate of French companies installed in Burma (oct 1997)
"environ 40" about 40 companies
230 french residents at the end of 1996
6000 french visitors 1996
600 burmese visitors to France in 1996

France holds roughly 3percent of the Burma market (oct 1997)

Another bit of information, according to French govt source (oct 1997),
the Japanese company, MITSUI, according to terms of the april 8 1996
agreement (Memo of Understanding PROJET 3 EN 1) with Unocal and Total,
is financing Yadana infrastructure at a cost of 700 million dollars.

This is info from 1997 and may have changed
