YANGON (Jan. 19) XINHUA - Singapore's HUB Marine Ptd.
Ltd. has introduced a new feeder service to Myanmar with its
schedule extended to Malaysia to enable exporters and
importers to conduct business smoothly, making it cost
            effective.

The Singapore-Yangon-Port Klang (Malaysia) feeder service
of the company, using its vessel MV Saipan Pioneer, is
provided on a 10-day round trip basis.

The vessel called Sunday at Myanmar International
Terminal, Thilawa (MITT), a new port next to the Yangon
Port built at the Thanlyin-Kyauktan region, 25 kilometers
            south of Yangon.

The MITT, a container terminal newly built by the C and P
Holding of Singapore in November 1997, is made up of five
plots of wharves having a total quay length of 1,000 meters
and an area of 75 hectares.

The terminal provides berthing capacity for four ocean
liners
and an annual handling capacity of 1 million 20-feet
            containers.

The existing Yangon Port is traditionally Myanmar's main
gateway to the world, handling all of its imports and over
90
            percent of its exports.

According to official statistics, the volume of port
handling
services of Yangon Port and other out ports for coastal and
overseas transportation totaled 7.5 million tons in 1997-98
            fiscal year.
