Karens get life for murder of editor
Two Karens who robbed and killed the father of the senior editor of Matichon
newspaper last August have been sentenced to life imprisonment.
Mao Do Ngae and Bung were found guilty of robbery and murder by the Thon Buri
criminal court on Friday. Both were initially condemned to death, but the
sentence was commuted to life for their confession to the crime.
The two Karens robbed Somchai Parichat, father of Sommai, senior editor of
Matichon daily, of valuables worth about 47,000 baht.
In the course of the robbery, they slit the victim's throat with a knife. The
incident took place in the victim's house.
