Nineteen entrepreneur groups to reclaim 203,000 acres in Ayeyawady Division
YANGON, 18 Jan-Work permits were presented to entrepreneurs to reclaim
wetlands
and vacant, fallow and virgin lands in Ayeyawady Division at Phayagon
village-tract, Pantanaw in the Division, this morning with an address by
Secretary-2 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Tin Oo.

The Secretary-2 said permits were granted to 
-nine national entrepreneur groups in Pakokku Township, Magway Division, on 9
January to put over 191,400 acres under crops and 

-five national entrepreneur groups in Taikkyi and Htantabin townships in
Yangon
Division, on 13 January to put over 28,580 acres under crops.

-Permits will be presented to 19 entrepreneur groups to reclaim 203,000 acres
at this ceremony.

More wetlands and vacant, fallow and virgin lands are being reclaimed to
extend
cultivation to ensure rice sufficiency for the people.

Efforts are being made to extend monsoon paddy cultivated areas from 12
million
acres to 14 million acres. Four million acres are being put under summer
paddy,
thus total paddy cultivated areas will become 18 million acres.
