HANOI, March 4 (Reuters) - ASEAN finance ministers will meet in Hanoi on
March 19 to 20 to discuss the region's economic crisis and implementation of
measures agreed at a recent summit, an official said on Thursday.

Vietnam Vice Minister of Finance Le Thi Bang Tam said senior officials from
Japan, South Korea, China, the International Monetary Fund and the World
Bank would also attend the meeting of the Association of South East Asian
Nations.

She told a news conference that senior ASEAN officials would meet for
several days before the ministerial gathering.

Implementation of measures adopted at a leaders' summit in Hanoi last
December would feature high on the agenda, she said.

At the end of last year's meeting, Southeast Asian leaders released a
statement on various measures aimed at spurring an economic recovery in the
region.

These included a slight speeding up in the implementation of the ASEAN Free
Trade Area (AFTA) and a number of incentives for investors who apply for
project licences over the next few years, although analysts failed to be
excited by the measures.

ASEAN comprises Brunei, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines,
Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
