Subject: Burma - The SLORC / SPDC versus The Ethnic Rebel Groups

15 March, 1999

Rangoon Post -
The SLORC currently the SPDC, beleives or at least wants the world to
beleive that the 17 so-called rebel groups that have surrendered during
the past 10 years is because they wanted peace. Also that there is
always just one rebel group remaining.

In actuality, there are at least 3 ethnic armies still out there whom
are still fighting for their land, freedoms and rights that the
BSPP/SLORC/SPDC took so much away more than 30 years ago. The Wa and
other groups may also soon turn their backs on the military since they
are Still Being Taunted and Harrassed by the military dictatorship.

Another notable point is, many groups simply gave up when they had no
more means to fight anymore and food became the most important item. So
the regime is NOT necessarily winning by any means of their own. The
groups resources are simply exhausted. They don't spend money meant for
others for guns. As does the military dictatorship does by not paying
workers, using slave labor and stealing monies and goods from any
village they encounter.

Someday, the 40 million people of the 130 different ethnic groups
will swarm down on and overwhelm the half million soldiers of the
dictator's tatmadaw.
