YANGON (March 22) XINHUA - The Myanmar authorities
have deported two foreigners for allegedly attempting to
instigate student demonstrations in Mandalay, the
country's
second largest city.
Ofer Don Estiline and Uyltebroeck Mlchel, who are U.S.
and
Belgium citizens respectively, were sent back home last
Friday and Saturday for their "improper motives and
behavior," said a government Information Sheet available
here Monday.
Posing as tourists, the two arrived in Myanmar on
February
21 and 28 respectively and attempted to instigate the
students of the Mandalay University to stage
demonstrations
and strikes against the teaching faculties and the
government on March 15, it said.
